High Altitude Balloon Academy

At Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington!
WHAT is it all about?
Students will plan, build and pre-launch a high-altitude balloon. Hands-on activities will teach participants about flight, sensors, payloads, and ballooning.

WHO is organizing the High Altitude Balloon Academy?
The HAB Academy is part of the Northwest Earth and Space Sciences Pathways program sponsored by NASA and Central Washington University. The purpose of the HAB Academy is to inspire students in the region to pursue STEM degrees and to help students prepare for college. Participants will interact with professors and students from universities around the region.

WHO should apply?
We are looking for college-bound students residing in Oregon or Washington state who will enter the 11th or 12th grade (16 to 17 years-old) in the upcoming Fall academic year and have a strong interest in science, engineering, and math. We will consider all applicants, but preference will be given to low-income, first-generation, or underrepresented minorities. The HAB Academy is free but space is limited so APPLY NOW.
