Artemis ROADS Unit 3 Lesson 2: Life in a Closed System
This lesson’s guiding question is, “What aspects of Earth’s systems do we need to replicate in space for humans to survive?“.
Lesson Summary:
Students will consider what they think about several different closed systems. Then, students will design and carry out investigations of living things to inform their closed-system models. Then, they will use their models to explain the lesson questions and provide feedback on their peers’ models. Finally, students will record their models and explanations in their MDLs.

Artemis ROADS Challenge Mission Objective Alignment:
This lesson is aligned with Mission Objective 4, which asks the students to create models and experiments to understand how life survives in a small closed system like a spacecraft.
