NASA Expert Talk Jan 22 at 4:00 pm PST

Logan Jaeren, STEAM4SPACE Founder

Zoom link: https://nwessp.org/january-22-artemis-roads-iii-nasa-expert-talk-logan-jaeren/

Logan Jaeren, founder of STEAM4SPACE, will share the origin stories of mission patches used to represent human spaceflight and space exploration. Unpublished stories from astronauts and space emblem artists will reveal the hidden meaning of patch designs that will forever change your perspective of emblems and inspire you to create an emblem that represents you and your mission to space.

NESSP is partnering with STEAM4SPACE!

All Artemis ROADS III Mission Advisors who request supplies can receive a special packet of STEAM4SPACE Mission Patches (while supplies last).

STEAM4SPACE is a non-profit endeavor to spark curiosity, light the flame of knowledge and inspire the launch of new possibilities for you and your students using mission patches.

Creating an unforgettable learning experience is an educator’s superpower, and sharing the story of a mission patch may be that moment that instills a love for space and forever changing the learning trajectory of a student. Connecting the story of a mission patch to STEAM starts with holding a patch, allowing the light to reflect off the embroidery thread while exploring the artistry of its design. The tactile and visual experience along with the story of its design sparks curiosity. Exploring the meaning of elements in the design leads to discovering STEM topics related to the mission.

Connecting students to STEAM using mission patches and storytelling can lead to an unforgettable learning experience. Boosting educators and students into a higher orbit and toward new horizons is the goal of STEAM4SPACE.

Learn about Artemis with Loteria!

Loteria (pronounced loh-teh-REE-ah) is a traditional Mexican game that is similar to Bingo but uses symbols instead of just numbers.

The game has been played for centuries in Mexico and has become a cultural staple in many Latin American countries. It’s often played during family gatherings and celebrations.

NESSP partner, Richard Parra with University of Washington Riverways, has developed a Loteria game based on the ARTEMIS ROADS III National Student Challenge and NASA History.

All Artemis ROADS III Mission Advisors who request supplies can receive a printed Loteria Game when they sign up their teams (while supplies last).

Clock is Ticking – ROADS Educator registration closing January 25, 2025

Educators who want to be the Mission Advisor for an Artemis ROADS III Challenge team must first register as a ROADS Educator by January 25, 2025.

Once the registration is complete, Mission Advisors can sign up Challenge teams and request supplies on their ROADS Educator profile.

No prior experience required. We provide support and assistance every step of the way!
