WHAT is it all about?
Students will take a journey to space as they plan a mission to return samples from Mars. Through hands-on activities, participants will learn about planetary geology, space flight, robots, and rockets.
WHO is organizing the Explore Mars Academy?
The Explore Mars Academy is part of the Northwest Earth and Space Sciences Pathways program sponsored by NASA and Central Washington University. The purpose of the Explore Mars Academy is to inspire students in the region to pursue STEM degrees and to help students prepare for college. Participants will interact with professors and students from universities around the region.
WHO should apply?
We are looking for students residing in Oregon and Washington state who will enter 9th or 10th grade (14 to 15 year-olds) in the upcoming Fall academic year and have a strong interest in science, engineering, and math. Preference will be given to low-income, underrepresented, and college-bound students. The Explore Mars Academy is free, but space is limited.
