Red-Tailed Hawks FLY

Red-Tailed Hawks FLY (Flight Lessons for Youth) is two-week STEM enrichment flight training experience. During the Red-Tailed Hawks FLY program, we seek to excite young underrepresented people about flying by providing a rich hands-on learning experience. Becoming a pilot is only one of many opportunities in aviation, and Red-Tailed Hawks FLY is more than just flight training. It is an aviation experience where cadets are grounded in aviation history and exposed to applicable earth and space sciences. As they gain piloting skills, cadets will increase their ability to practically apply their knowledge of STEM. Those that demonstrate the skill to do will solo an airplane. The top three students overall (academics, flying skill and behavior) will receive additional funding to pursue a FAA Private Pilot certification. Applications must be post marked by May 15th. Costs: Red-Tailed Hawks FLY is free. The Program will reimburse expenses for required physical exams and TSA waivers. Dates: 8-23 July Location: Paine Field, Everett, WA Room & Board: The responsibility of Cadets’ family/sponsor. There are no Program provided overnight accommodations. Transportation: The responsibility of Cadets’ familiy/sponsor. The Program will work with families to find daily transportation solutions within the Greater Puget Sound Area.
