“Meet a NASA Engineer” — Monica Vidaurri
The fifth (and final!) of our opportunities for ANGLeS teams to Meet a NASA Expert will take place on Tuesday, May 28! We’re pleased to be joined by Monica Vidaurri, a science consultant specializing in astrobiology and political science at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Monica began her undergraduate studies at the University of North Texas, then moved to Washington, D.C., in January 2017. Since her move, she has worked in Congress, the non-profit sector, the American Chemical Society, the White House, and has lobbied on behalf of science representation and funding before her work at NASA began. While currently finishing her studies at George Mason University, Monica’s science research focuses on the atmospheres of exoplanets and the extent to which life can exist or arise on a given planet, while her policy research focuses on diversity and inclusion, science representation in Congress, planetary protection and bioethics, and NASA mission budgeting.
